Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a future concept — it’s already shaping the way businesses operate, compete, and grow.

Based on what local businesses like yours told us in our September Survey of Business Expectations, the use of AI across South Australian businesses is steadily increasing. More organisations are exploring how AI can improve productivity, decision‑making, and customer experience.

A few key highlights:

  • AI adoption is accelerating, with 57.4% of businesses now using ChatGPT and 31.3% using Microsoft Copilot.
  • Fewer businesses are sitting on the sidelines, as those reporting no AI use fell to 24.2% (down from 41.9% last year).
  • Confidence in AI’s value is rising, with 71.4% of businesses now viewing AI as important to future growth.
  • Governance is lagging in uptake, with only 16.7% of businesses having a formal AI policy in place.

Throughout February, the South Australian Business Chamber will collaborate with leading experts from Microsoft and Adelaide University to bring you practical learning opportunities designed to help you better understand, apply, and benefit your business from AI — no matter where you are at on your AI journey.
