Last October, the South Australian Business Chamber released its Pre-Election Charter26: a practical, future-focused agenda to lift productivity, cut complexity and build a genuinely business-friendly environment in our state.
As South Australia’s reputation is growing as a state on the move, our next State Government must turn momentum into measurable outcomes for business. That means action, not lip service. The state’s performance: its ability to lift GSP, attract investment, grow jobs and keep businesses here, will be judged by tangible improvements in business conditions.
Through our ongoing engagement with members, we know the reality for SA businesses is nuanced. Many businesses are thriving. At the same time, others are struggling with rising costs, tighter margins and growing operational complexity, often due to government policy settings.
Charter26 is not about subsidies or short-term fixes. It sets out practical reforms that remove barriers, lift productivity and create the conditions for businesses to invest, grow and create more opportunities.
A strong business community drives employment, innovation and higher living standards. Will our next State Government make it easier to start, run or grow a business in South Australia in the next term? We expect the answer to be yes; because when business succeeds, South Australia succeeds.
