Why is completing our Survey of Business Expectations so important?

The South Australian Business Chamber is once again seeking your valuable input and feedback on the current business confidence and economic conditions in our state. 

The March quarter 2023 of the South Australian Business Chamber’s Survey of Business Expectations, powered by William Buck, is now live and we would appreciate it if you could take about 10 minutes of your time to complete it. 

The results of this survey enable us to track South Australian and national economies over time and help us to strengthen our policy campaigns with data and comments from businesses. 

Having access to up-to-date information from South Australian businesses about your day-to-day challenges also strengthens our positions when we advocate for the best possible business environment in our state. 

In this edition of our survey, which is in its 43^rd year and the longest-running in the state, we also ask the following supplementary questions:

• We want to find out whether an increased population in South Australia would be beneficial for your business, as the Federal Treasury expects our state’s population will increase from 1,800,000 to 2,000,000 by the early 2030s.
• Given the recent cyber-attacks on well-known businesses like Optus and Medibank, we want to know if you have taken steps to improve your business’s cyber security.
• We also ask how your business has been dealing with inflation over the last quarter.
• Finally, because the South Australian Business Chamber is a key player in the SA Volunteering Strategy, the first of its kind in Australia, we regularly ask questions about volunteering in the workplace and track this data over time.

We are pleased to announce that we will once again be doing a randomized draw at the end, to select 12 lucky winners of a bottle of Seppeltsfield wine. 

Last time the South Australian Business Chamber’s Policy and Advocacy team personally delivered prizes to our winners and took the opportunity to speak to them about their business challenges. 

Many of our members continue to struggle with staff, whether it is attracting or retaining new workers. In many instances, there are simply not enough applications for advertised positions. 

We already raised this with high-level decision-makers at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, using survey data, as well as anonymous anecdotal evidence from these discussions to support our arguments.
