You would think the co-founder of a start-up enviro-tech business, just cutting its teeth, would be solely focused on the success of their own venture. However, Jed Durdin of the Sustainable Energy Commitment is as focused on the success of others as he is on his own.

During a recent interview for the ThirtyNiners podcast, Jed was asked what defines success for him, and his response was simple: he wanted to see the people around him be successful.

I really thrive when I see the people around me growing. I see it with people in my business, I see it in my wife, I see it in my kids,” Jed explained. My happiness comes from the happiness of others.”

Jed, originally from the Eyre Peninsula, brings a real country-lad mentality to South Australia’s startup ecosystem, driven by a passion for sport, family, and community.

Jed has embraced his journey from a small country town to co-founding an enviro-tech startup, fuelled by determination and a desire to make a positive impact.

I am born and bred country South Australian, and I had the best upbringing any kid could ask for,” Jed recalls.

I have two parents who love me dearly and spent lots of time with my brothers and me, it was a great platform to grow from.”

Jed’s childhood dream was to become an AFL player, despite barely passing business studies. It’s ironic,” he reflects, look at what I’m doing now.”

It’s clear Jed’s better-together mentality is the driving force behind his professional venture as co-founder of Circular Energy Group (CEG). He holds a deep desire to create a better future for his children and the next generation, fuelled by his concern for the climate tragedies already occurring across Australia.

We already see so much climate tragedy around Australia,” Jed expressed.

It’s clear we aren’t moving fast enough towards Net Zero.”

Jed also talks about how currently the energy transition only has a few big winners, while many homeowners and small to medium-sized businesses are struggling to pay their energy bills. We need to close the gap and create a future where affordable, sustainable energy is accessible to everyone,” Jed said.

This is where CEG company, the Sustainable Energy Commitment was born. A software platform providing a framework for businesses to move to 24/7 Sustainable Energy. The Sustainable Energy Commitment aims to completely redefine how businesses around the world view and manage energy.

Our goal is to support all businesses in utilising sustainable energy sources, every hour of every day,” Jed explains.

He firmly believes the means and technology to achieve Net-Zero emissions exist right now and are more accessible than people think. Jed said, Businesses want to drive down this path, we are providing the keys and the tools to help them do it”.

The Sustainable Energy Commitment provides a simple-to-use energy health check, a certified transformation plan, and ongoing management. Through these tools, businesses can take control of their energy use, reduce long-term energy costs and make a lasting impact on their carbon footprint.

Jed’s dedication to supporting and empowering others extends beyond his own success. By collaborating with businesses and helping them adopt sustainable energy practices, he aims to create a better future for his children and future generations.

His work with the Sustainable Energy Commitment contributes to mitigating climate tragedy and accelerating the journey towards affordable sustainable energy for everyone.

In a world often consumed by individual pursuits, Jed Durdin stands out as a co-founder fuelled not only by his own achievements but also by the success of those around him.

His genuine passion for community, coupled with his determination to create a sustainable future, makes him a driving force in South Australia’s startup ecosystem.

Jed’s story serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the power of collaboration and the impact that can be made when success is measured not just by personal accomplishments, but by the achievements of others and the betterment of our world.
