There is so much value in employers ensuring that they have a dedicated focus on improving health and safety outcomes in workplaces by utilising the established role of Health Safety Representatives (HSRs).

HSRs play an important role in working with you and your workforce to ensure participation and effective communication, more broadly to help ensure legislative adherence and provide frontline insights that help improve systems and processes.

So why not make sure you support your HSR and provide them with the skills and knowledge to perform their role effectively? It’s important that you understand that all HSRs and deputy HSRs are entitled to attend approved training during each year of their term of office. The prescribed number of days that a HSR is entitled to during their 3‑year term of office are:

  • 5 days during the first year
  • 3 days during the second year
  • 2 days during the third year

At the South Australian Business Chamber we are passionate about working with employers and their HSRs to ensure that they can step into their role with confidence. We have supported thousands of businesses and HSRs to undertake training and are a proud SafeWorkSA approved delivery partner.

If you are committed to supporting your HSRs we have different training programs for HSRs no matter where they are at in their learning journey. We can undertake training at your work site or you can send your HSRs to a public program held at the South Australian Business Chamber at Unley or at other locations at Gepps Cross, Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale.
