SafeWork SA audits in the retail sector

Monday, July 25th 2022

Workers in the retail sector provide a valuable service to the community. Many of these workers are young, may work in isolation, and may be unfamiliar with managing aggressive customers.

SafeWork SA Inspectors are currently auditing retail outlets in metropolitan and regional areas to ensure businesses have:

  • appropriate policies and procedures in place to address the risk of violence and aggression
  • relevant training for workers
  • suitable control measures in place to protect workers.

Do you need assistance with your work health and safety obligations, responsibilities and risk management strategies? Call one of our WHS experts today on (08) 8300 0000 or lodge an on-line enquiry form >

The South Australian Business Chamber also provides training for your staff to explore the tools to deal with challenging customer behaviour and tactics to de-escalate conflict through understanding how behaviour, tone and body language can inflame or pacify a situation. Find out more >
