Life Saving SA, a part of the iconic Surf Life Saving South Australia family, is encouraging businesses to get their teams together to enjoy a day of networking and hear from inspirational speakers at the South Australian Aquatic Conference & Awards for Excellence on Thursday 22nd September at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre.
While originally intended for those aquatic businesses amongst us (eg councils, rehab clinics, gyms, wellness centres, hotels, schools, or universities) the 2022 conference is focused on the rebounding and rebuilding of businesses, post pandemic and we encourage everyone to come along.
The conference also explores the rebuilding process of a strong workforce post pandemic what practices are being put in place to future proof the industry moving forward. Master of Ceremonies, Channel 9’s Tom Rehn, will join the special guests and industry speakers who will provide an insight into the methods they adapted to overcome adversity and how they and their organisations rebounded and rebuilt.
Guest speakers include; Brad Ebert, Madi Wilson and RJ Houston.
Brad Ebert is a former professional AFL footballer with the Port Adelaide Football Club & West Coast Eagles. Since retiring Brad has used his team building skills, moving into the wine industry. He has enjoyed the transition from football to business finding many transferrable skills that have helped set him up for life outside the game. Brad’s draw to the aquatics industry is through his role at Grange Surf Life Saving Club where he trains and competes in multiple beach events.
RJ Houston is the National Manager for Royal Life Saving Australia who an extensive background in leadership roles across local government, non-profits, aquatic facility management organisations and peak bodies. RJ started out in the industry as lifeguard and aquatic program instructor over 17 years ago. RJ’s work has focussed over time from centre management, group operations and organisational and industry-wide risk, quality, audit, and safety management systems.
Madi Wilson OAM, off the back of her 5 Commonwealth Games medals in Birmingham, is a Freestyle and Backstroke specialist who has filled her life with aquatics and can’t wait to share her experience of being part of the Australian Dolphins Swim team. She also recently competed at the 2022 FINA World Championships where she won two gold and two silver medals in her relay teams.
The Awards of Excellence breakfast will kick-start the 2022 Life Saving SA Conference and will be an opportunity for delegates to be inspired by outstanding events, projects and accomplishments of individuals in the sector. The Conference & Awards will be opened by the Hon. Katrine Hildyard MP, Minister for Recreation, Sport, and Racing.
