Premier Peter Malinauskas has announced a new-look cabinet as a result of a reshuffle triggered by the resignation of Geoff Brock last week.

The refreshed ministry, which the Premier says is a modest adjustment and reflects the big opportunities upon the state”, includes the movement of Space and Defence Industries to Treasurer Stephen Mullighan.

The South Australian Business Chamber said in a statement that incorporating Defence and Space Industries into Treasurer Mullighan’s portfolio is a strategic decision aligned with our state’s priorities.

We hope the Treasurer’s oversight of these critical sectors will enhance their commercial and economic contribution, bolstering South Australia’s future prosperity”, said the Chamber.

Other business-focused adjustments include Joe Szakacs’s move to the Trade and Investment portfolio, taking over from Nick Champion.

Champion will now head a super housing portfolio, a combination of Housing and Urban Development, Housing Infrastructure and Planning.

The full cabinet reshuffle includes:

  • Rhiannon Pearce – Assistant Minister for Junior Sport Participation
  • Dan Cregan – Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services | Special Minister of State
  • Nick Champion – Minister for Housing and Urban Infrastructure | Minister for Housing Infrastructure | Minister for Planning
  • Joe Szakacs – Minister for Trade and Investment | Minister for Local Government | Minister for Veterans Affairs
  • Nat Cook – Minister for Human Services | Minister for Seniors and Ageing Well
  • Stephen Mullighan – Treasurer | Minister for Defence and Space Industries
  • Susan Close – Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science | Minister for Climate, Environment and Water | Minister for Workforce and Population Strategy

No other changes have been announced.
