Meet the winners of the 2023 South Australian Premier's Business and Export Awards

Last Friday Night, 23 of the state’s most outstanding businesses celebrated their last 12 months of achievements, winning awards at the South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards. 

The awards ceremony, hosted by the South Australian Business Chamber in collaboration with the Government of South Australia, took place at the Adelaide Convention Centre, where more than 600 business leaders gathered, marking a return to the vibrant atmosphere of recognition events not experienced since the onset of the pandemic.

Business award winners

ActFas PTY LTD (ActFas Ambulance) – Regional Business of the Year

Actfas was established in 2013 delivering First Aid Courses. 11 years later they have now established a Private Restricted Non-Emergency Ambulance Service transporting in excess of 2000 patients per year, with over 90% of which are from country and regional South Australia. Actfas is a vital cog in the wheel of the Community and health system in South Australia, traveling over 237 thousand km across 4 Ambulances in the past 12 months.

Apxium Technologies Ltd – Innovative Business of the Year

Apxium provides an entire Financial Technology toolkit to Professional Services Firms in North America, U.K. and Australia, including Accounts Receivable Automation Software, Smart Payment Services and automated Professional Fee funding.

Bellberry Limited – Not for Profit Business of the Year

Bellberry Limited is a national, private not-for-profit organisation providing streamlined scientific and ethical review of human research projects across Australia. Bellberry’s aim is to promote and improve the welfare of research participants and the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of research.

Mumamoo Group Pty Ltd – Business of the Year and Small Business of the Year

Launched in February 2021, mumamoo is South Australia’s first female-owned infant formula company, addressing a market deficiency for an authentic, socially aware product that meets the expectations of the market. Mumamoo’s vision is to be known as the #1 trusted brand and choice of infant formula in Australia, with the mental health and wellbeing of mothers, fathers, and their babies at the forefront of the company ethos.

My Venue – Beyond Borders Business of the Year

MyVenue is an award-winning point-of-sale provider, delivering faster, more reliable, and rapidly scalable POS solutions for sports, entertainment, and hospitality venues worldwide. The portable cloud-based solution is developed & managed in Adelaide and buoyed by specialists in North America and the United Kingdom and employs 35 staff globally.

Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards – Family Business of the Year

Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards is a sixth-generation family-owned business in the heart of McLaren Vale. The Oliver family produces a collection of small-batch, handcrafted wines from their 100-hectare Taranga property, hosting guests in one of McLaren Vale’s most visited Cellar Doors.

Rainy Day Recruitment – Indigenous Business of the Year

Rainy Day Recruitment is a majority indigenous-owned, Supply Nation Certified recruiting and advisory business that launched in 2020. Specialising in talent acquisition and employment solutions for ICT, Engineering, and Professional Services, Rainy Day Recruitment is on a mission to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce in these industries, advocating for ethical recruitment practices and aiming to create a more trustworthy recruitment industry.

ResourceCo Holdings Pty Ltd – ESG Business of the Year

ResourceCo is a global leader in the recovery and re-manufacturing of primary resources, extracting maximum value from materials otherwise destined for landfill. They work with governments, communities and multinational companies to progress the circular economy and preserve natural resources for a sustainable future.

The Hygiene Co. – Emerging Business of the Year

Knowing that there is the weight of one billion elephants worth of plastic in our world, The Hygiene Co. founders Phil Scardigno and Corey White were shocked and horrified. Instead of continuing to talk about the problem, they set about removing plastic from one very simple and frequently used product, developing Australia’s first locally made, plastic-free wet wipes.

Viterra – Large Business of the Year

Viterra connects Australian growers with domestic and international consumers through their world-leading, fully integrated agriculture network covering the entire supply chain from the farm gate through to delivering products to consumers in Australia and overseas.

Whiteheads Timber Sales P/L – Medium Business of the Year

Whiteheads Timber Sales is a medium-sized saw milling business that produces a wide range of specialist timber products made from 100% sustainable plantation softwood. From humble beginnings, the business has developed into an innovative and successful timber manufacturer with a strong presence in the timber industry, built around a reputation for dependable and effective customer service levels and consistent quality products.
