The South Australian Business Chamber Today

Huzzah, eInvoicing awareness week, 15 – 21 August 2022

Monday, August 15th 2022

It is true. There really is a week/day/month for everything now. The Australian Taxation Office has many events available for you to attend that will explain eInvoicing and provide advice on how to get started.

The drive to adopt eInvoicing is coming directly from the ATO, and they list the benefits as being:

  • cost savings
  • fewer errors
  • reliable and secure
  • reduced payment times
  • connect once, trade with many.

With any operational change in business, communication is central to the success of the change. The ATO recommends that you talk to your buyers and suppliers. If you are a tax agent, bookkeeper, or business advisor, you have a role to play in letting your clients know about eInvoicing. The ATO recommends that industry representatives do this for their members too, so here we are.

The South Australian Business Chamber corporate member bzTrack launched their eInvoicing solution earlier this year, stating on their website that:

  • 43 per cent of additional working capital would be available to SMEs if they never had to wait for payments
  • 45 per cent of SMEs have more than ten outstanding invoices per month, with each invoice being pursued more than twice before payment is made.
