Family and Domestic Violence Leave to become paid leave soon

Did you know that from 1 February 2023, your employees will be able to access ten days of paid family and domestic violence leave each 12 months? This includes casual and part-time employees.

Casual employees will be paid at their full pay rate for the hours they were rostered to work in the period they took leave.

Employees will not have to accumulate the leave over time; instead, they will be entitled to the full ten days upfront. The leave will not accumulate from year to year if it is not used.

The new entitlement will be available from:

  • 1 February 2023 for employees of non-small business employers (employers with 15 or more employees on 1 February 2023).
  • 1 August 2023 for employees of small business employees (employers with less than 15 employees on 1 February 2023).

Find out more about the changes and what you need to do to be compliant by contacting our Business Advice Hotline on (08) 8300 0000 (select option 1).
