Underpayment Annual Wage Review Webinar June 2025

From 1 July 2025 the National Minimum Wage increases by 3.5% to $948 per week or $24.95 per hour and award minimum wages increase by 3.5%. The increase applies from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2025.

The Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS) was updated on 1 July 2025 with these new rates. It’s very important that employers remember that they are legally required to provide the most recent FWIS to every new employee either before they begin work or as soon as possible afterward. This obligation is set out under the Fair Work Act 2009, and failure to comply may result in penalties.

The FWIS has important information on:

  • the National Employment Standards
  • right to request flexible working arrangements
  • modern awards
  • making agreements under the Fair Work Act 2009
  • individual flexibility arrangements
  • freedom of association and workplace rights (general protections)
  • termination of employment
  • right of entry
  • the role of the Fair Work Ombudsman and the Fair Work Commission.

The FWIS can be given to new employees:

  • in person
  • by mail
  • by email
  • by emailing a link to this page of our website
  • by emailing a link to a copy of the FWIS available on the employer’s intranet
  • by fax
  • by another method.
