The South Australian Business Chamber Today

Disappointment at unchanged close contact rules

The South Australian Business Chamber Director, Policy and Advocacy Kendall Crowe says that while the South Australian Business Chamber appreciates the vital role of our public health officials, today’s decision not to change close contact rules is a missed opportunity.

We are hearing from our members that the rationale for this is difficult to understand. Students can return to the classroom if they are a classroom contact. Still, for employers not in specifically exempt industries like the health sector, staff cannot return to work until seven days later.

This decision to keep the close contact rules will continue to cause significant mental health concerns for employers and employees alike with businesses running tight and staff unable to work.”
