SA Business Chamber CEO Andrew Kay turned interviewer at a sponsor event at Koomo, Crowne Plaza for the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium (BGSH) yesterday. The Chamber is a Member Partner for the Chihuly Exhibition that will take over the Gardens from September 2024 through to April 2025. Andrew interviewed BGSH Director Michael Harvey and other team members to discuss the logistics and the benefits of bringing this world class exhibition to South Australia.
Seattle-based Dale Chihuly is the world’s most celebrated contemporary glass artist and this will be the first major outdoor exhibition of his work in Australia and the wider southern hemisphere. Chihuly will present a curated selection of 15x large-scale installations and sculptures in this Australian-exclusive major event from 27 September 2024, to 29 April 2025.
Andrew believes this is a program that the business community should get behind. “Chihuly at the Botanic Garden will bring an estimated additional 500,000 visitors to the Gardens and into our CBD,” he said. “These people will be locals, interstate and international patrons who will spend money in our economy. While Chihuly will be free to attend during the day, the Garden will come alive at night, with opportunities for the business community to host clients and staff at any one of a vast range of unique corporate entertainment offerings.”
