The South Australian Business Chamber appoints wine industry leader

Tuesday, April 19th 2022

The South Australian Business Chamber is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Kay as the new Chief Executive Officer. He comes to the South Australian Business Chamber from 15 years at the helm of Wirra Wirra Vineyards, McLaren Vale.

Andrew Kay brings to the South Australian Business Chamber his extraordinary experience on both sides of the board room table. His insights include strategy and vision, finance, risk and governance, marketing, sales, and OH&S. He is also experienced at the Director level with appointments with the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium, Centennial Park Authority, Winemakers’ Federation of Australia, and the Grape and Wine Research Development Corporation.

The South Australian Business Chamber Chair Nikki Govan says that Andrew’s excellent record of growing market share aligns well with the next stage of the South Australian Business Chamber growth agenda.

Andrew is a tremendous commercial success, having developed high-achieving operations across family business, private and multi-national. He has lived and worked as an expat in the UK and conducted business across Europe, the US and Asia.

As a membership body, the South Australian Business Chamber is here to support the job-makers and the risk-takers. We want to grow our membership base and bring in more South Australian businesses.

There are unique aspects to leading a membership organisation. It takes someone with a strong commercial focus and the ability to ensure financial stability. A pivotal element of a thriving membership organisation is the focus on people. Whether our team, members or the broader business community, it is about building that sense of belonging. Andrew has a very strong focus on building team culture in the workplace.

On behalf of my fellow the South Australian Business Chamber board members and the team, we warmly welcome Andrew Kay to the South Australian Business Chamber team.

Andrew Kay says that he’s thrilled to be joining South Australia’s peak employer body.

The timing is right for me to embark on the next chapter of my career, using my experience developed over three decades working across a diverse group of businesses.

It’s time to help others achieve their goals and dreams.

My vision as the new the South Australian Business Chamber Chief Executive Officer is to draw on the board, staff, members and government capability and capacity to deliver results. I want to be part of making South Australia the best place to do business.

The South Australian Business Chamber as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in South Australia has a long and proud history of being the voice of business, the advocate, and the knowledge provider. The South Australian Business Chamber has a fabulous story that is over 180 years old. I am proud to be part of this history.”

Andrew Kay will commence with the South Australian Business Chamber in the last week of June. Martin Haese will continue to lead to the team until that time.
