The South Australian Business Chamber is proud to be supporting the 2022 Solstice Media 40 under 40 for the first time.
At the South Australian Business Chamber, we work with business leaders in the CDB, in metropolitan Adelaide, and across our regions.
Our regional industries contribute $29b to the state’s economy with 27% of the state’s population. In fact, over the pandemic, there has been net migration to the regions, which shows people recognise how much they have to offer.
For this reason, the South Australian Business Chamber is supporting the 2022 regional and rural award. To recognise and reward the excellent under 40s who are committed to our regions.
Here at the South Australian Business Chamber, we support the risk-takers. We back the creators, the innovators and the entrepreneurs.
We are pleased to announce that Damon Grace, CotL was recognised at last night’s ceremony as the winner of the regional and rural category for his network of automated weather and environmental monitoring stations to identify adverse conditions for pesticide spraying. Pesticides can move considerable distances from the site of application and this can damage viticulture and horticulture crops, gardens, and leave residues in fresh produce, wine and meat. There is also the risk of pesticide contamination of rainwater.
In only a few short years, Damon’s entrepreneurial spirit has seen his weather station network grow to be worth millions of dollars and winning government grants to expand the network.
What impressed us the most was Damon’s partnerships with the Bureau of Meteorology, growers, government, industry, suppliers, emergency services, and insurance companies to ensure the success of his agtech innovation.
Damon demonstrated a commitment to financial sustainability and profitability, he had an eye for the business of his success not just the tech itself.
Congratulations Damon.
