It is critical for PCBU's to consider the business risk associated with an alleged breach to the Work Health Safety obligations under “PCBU Duty of Care”. For example:
- What cost impost to your brand if you had a fatality / serious incident in the workplace?
- Are you aware of the psychosocial hazards in the workplace and its impact on worker wellbeing (absenteeism /presenteeism ?
- Are you confident in your processes and policies in meeting your obligations WHS act and legislation?
- Are your policies and procedures supporting consultation and engagement with your workforce?
- Do you have the opportunity and/ or time in assessing the effectiveness of your “safety controls” to eliminate / mitigate risk of harm to workers, plant and equipment ?
- Do you engage contractors? What risks are known?
- Have you workers, working alone and or in isolation?
