Cancer Council SA and the Minister for Health and Wellbeing the Hon Chris Picton MP officially opened the brand new 120-room Cancer Council facility at 202 Greenhill Road on Tuesday.

The state-of-the-art, multipurpose centre will provide accommodation, conduct research and house prevention and support services, all under one roof.

Kerry Rowlands, Cancer Council SA Chief Executive and the South Australian Business Chamber member said she is incredibly proud to open the doors to their new building and looks forward to seeing it have a positive impact on the lives of all South Australians affected by a cancer diagnosis.

The centre will offer a home-away-from-home for regional cancer patients and their carers while they access treatments and cancer-related appointments in the Adelaide area. It offers a range of on-site support services, including access to social workers, transport to treatment, kitchen and dining areas and a range of inviting and welcoming communal spaces.

The building was supported by a $10m grant from the state government alongside generous donations from the South Australian community.

Minister Picton said that the State Government was proud to support this important project that will make a difference to the South Australian community.

This new facility will enable Cancer Council SA to adapt to meet the future needs of people impacted by cancer by improving health outcomes for all South Australians, especially those in regional and remote communities.”

Cancer Council SA is an independent, non-government organisation made possible by the generous support of the South Australian community.
