The City of Adelaide has released a set of five key goals forming its integrated climate strategy 2030.

The strategy, to be delivered in partnership with other levels of government, business and community organisations puts focus on key areas following consultation with stakeholders.

  • A climate-resilient city
  • A net zero city
  • A city where nature thrives
  • Transition to a decarbonised city
  • A climate-leading capital city

In the strategies foreword by Lord Mayor Dr Jane Lomax-Smith, she highlights that cities have a crucial role to play in the fight against climate change.

Climate change has been unremitting, irrevocable, and constant not just in the City of Adelaide, but for communities across the globe.

Cities have a crucial role to play – both as significant contributors to climate change and as the places where most people choose to live”, said the Lord Mayor.

The Strategy is informed by a detailed assessment of climate change risk, modelling of future climate scenarios and clear pathways to drive carbon emission reduction.
