Survey

To accompany the Secure Jobs Better Pay (SJBP) Review submissions, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has developed a survey to collate data on the impacts the SJBP amendments have had on businesses. The survey focuses on the a few changes that ACCI identified as priorities for data collection and will close on 31 January 2025. Due to the timing of the survey, ACCI recommends an initial release, and a reminder of the survey in the New Year.

To assist in distributing the survey to your membership, ACCI has prepared recommendations for inclusion on communications below. You are, of course, welcome to change the wording of the below, however, we recommend including the following:

  • the background to and purpose for the survey,
  • when the survey will be closed,
  • the length of time the survey will likely take, and
  • who to contact in the event of any questions.

Proposed Communication

The Federal Government has legislated three major packages of amendments to Australia’s industrial relations framework, the Fair Work Act since 2022. The first of these packages was the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 (SJBP amendments). The Government is conducting a review of the SJBP amendments, which will consider:

  • the operation of the 2022 amendments is appropriate and effective,
  • whether there are any unintended consequences of the amendments,
  • whether any further amendments to the Fair Work Act or any other laws are necessary to improve the operation of the amendments or rectify any unintended consequences.

To understand the impact of the amendments on your business, we would be grateful for your response to this survey. The survey will likely take you around 15 minutes to complete. It is crucial that businesses provide feedback so that the Government have an accurate understanding of the impact of legislative amendments. Your response will be used to inform responses to the review process, which will communicate the effects of the SJBP amendments.

The survey will close on 31 January 2025 and can be completed here.
