The South Australian Business Chamber Today

Shop Local This Easter

Through the pandemic, South Australia lead a tremendous effort in supporting local businesses in South Australia. Now, following the end of JobKeeper payments on Sunday, this is even more important.

We are lucky to have some of the best produce in the world in South Australia and the South Australian Business Chamber, South Australia’s independent Chamber of Commerce and Industry encourages everyone to shop local and enjoy some of our great state’s offerings over a relaxing easter break to ensure the security and growth of jobs.

South Australian owned and managed business, Bracegirdle’s, House of Fine Chocolate understands the importance of shopping local and proudly source many of their ingredients and products from local businesses and suppliers, as well as making most of their products by hand, in house at their Cross Road premises.
Bracegirdle’s originally started back in 2005 and was one of Adelaide’s first and only dessert bars.

Fast forward 16 years and Bracegirdle’s now thrives with 5 café’s across Adelaide and McLaren Vale, famous for their handmade, multi award winning chocolates.

Through the COVID pandemic Bracegirdle’s had to pivot their operation to focus on an online and takeaway only sales model, launching these offerings around Easter last year which allowed them to maintain some of their staff. They were determined that through the toughest of times, they would still be standing at the end of the pandemic.

Bracegirdle’s owners Sue & Garry Bracegirdle said We’re proud to train staff and watch them grow within the business. They are proud to say that despite the pandemic, there are still staff members working with us who were there in the very beginning.”

With capacity limits now increased, Bracegirdle’s is now able to welcome more people into their stores over the long weekend, with demand going through the roof for their handmade chocolates that are perfect for gifts and treats throughout the Easter period.

The South Australian Business Chamber CEO, Martin Haese said The weather couldn’t be more perfect this long weekend, and with the recent further easing of restrictions, now is the time to visit our regions, take part in a uniquely SA experience, pop into the CBD, support a local business and enjoy what South Australia has to offer.”4

Whether you are treating your staff to some chocolates or hot cross buns, buying wine to enjoy over the break or purchasing fresh produce, there are endless amounts of great quality products available from small businesses across the state.
