The Department for Infrastructure and Transport is developing a Public Transport Strategy to guide planning for the next 30 years. A separate Regional Public Transport Review is also underway, focused on transport options outside metropolitan Adelaide.

These strategies will influence how people, goods and services move across South Australia – including how employees get to work, how customers access businesses, and how regional centres stay connected.

For businesses, effective public transport can:

  • Expand access to workforce talent
  • Improve employee reliability and punctuality
  • Support foot traffic and local spending
  • Help manage congestion and travel times, particularly as the population grows

With South Australia’s population projected to grow by 670,000 by 2051, now is the time to ensure the transport system can meet future business and community needs — particularly in attracting and retaining a skilled workforce and supporting regional development.

The Department is seeking feedback from across the community, including the business sector.

Ways to have your say include:

  • An online survey
  • Written submissions
  • Webinars
  • An interactive Your Transport Choices’ game

Consultation is open until Friday, 27 June.
