The South Australian Business Chamber’s monthly Chamber networking event was held at SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre (a proud member of the South Australian Business Chamber) at Marion on Tuesday 28 June
As the state’s premier aquatic centre and SA’s only FINA-accredited facility, it provided a unique and exciting setting for a fantastic evening of networking.
The Centre opened in 2011 and since then, significant growth in attendance and usage has been experienced. YMCA Victoria in partnership with the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing has successfully operated the centre for over a decade. Catering for elite level sport and community-based participants, SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre has averaged over 1.16M visits annually and has contributed to over $135m in economic benefit to SA since opening.
The Centre offers the community a full suite of recreation services with a health and wellness membership, an extensive group fitness program, lap swimming, exercise physiology, and a very successful swimming Lesson program.
Its resident high-performance club ‘The Marion Swimming Club’, has contributed to the recent success of the Australian Olympic Team through the likes of Kyle Chalmers, Madi Wilson and others.
Attendees also heard from Adam Luscombe who has been the General Manager at the South Australian Aquatic & Leisure Centre since its opening in 2011. During his tenure, SAALC has exceeded expectations in 10 years of success that include the delivery of 3 Olympic swimming trials, FINA grand-prix diving meets, national and international water polo competitions, and multiple Olympic and paralympic medals, and of course a highly successful array of community programs.
