OTR servos to accept bitcoin

Thursday, April 7th 2022

Earlier this week, the South Australian Business Chamber corporate member announced that it will soon be accepting bitcoin in-store for fuel, or other purchases made like snacks. This decision will make OTR the largest retailer in Australia to accept crypto.

OTR will also accept crypto at its C Coffee, Subway, Oporto and Wokinabox outlets, and at its Smokemart and Giftbox stores.

Bitcoin is becoming increasingly mainstream and part of our daily lives. OTR chairman, Yasser Shahin, explains this move was made due to the increasing development of the digital currencies.

The growth and mainstream acceptance of cryptocurrency adoption in Australia and the rest of the world has been phenomenal, and has offered us a clear opportunity to tap into the momentum of this fast-growing space for the benefit of our customers.”

OTR is working with a Singapore technology company to set up platforms in-store to convert customer’s AU dollars into cryptocurrency. These are set to be installed in all retail stores.
