A new grant program has been announced to support South Australian manufacturers with up to $50,000 in matched funding to support the adoption of productivity-boosting advanced technologies.

As part of the State Government’s Research and Innovation Fund, the new Manufacturing Technology Adoption Program (MTAP) recognises the transformative potential of Industry 4.0 technologies and will support SMEs with the upfront costs associated with adoption.

Eligible projects will enable the development of new or enhanced products, support entry into new markets and/or increase the productivity and competitiveness of manufacturing businesses.

Relevant technologies may include:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Augmented and virtual reality
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Advanced composite materials
  • Robotics and automation
  • Machine learning and data analytics
  • Internet of Things
  • Blockchain
  • Optics and photonics
  • Quantum technologies

The grants will be considered in two rounds with a total program funding of $500,000 in 2024 – 25 and a further $500,000 in 2025 – 26. Full eligibility criteria, guidelines and applications for the first round, which closes on 28 February 2025, are available on the Department of State Development’s website.

The MTAP aligns with the objectives of South Australia’s Advanced Manufacturing Strategy – which aims to guide future industry and government.
