What’s the best way to prepare a steak? Kent Comley, who manages The Barn on the outskirts of Mount Gambier, can tell you how.
Kent began working at The Barn after marrying into the family more than a decade ago, with a background in wine marketing and years spent working in the Coonawarra.
The Barn, which W.F Ploenges built in 1877 using stone found on the property, has since grown to become a function centre catering for up to 800 people, a high-end restaurant showcasing aged steaks from cows reared on the property, and accommodation across 46 suites.
And it’s beautiful too – shady trees line the driveway, roses and immaculate English gardens surround the property, and there’s an air of serenity along its pathways and among its nooks. It’s the perfect venue for events – from the South Australian Business Chamber’s Regional Voice workshops to weddings and local school graduations.
Kent can’t be happier living and working in regional South Australia, with a 500m commute from home, and a thriving family business to oversee.
