A global company which started in the United States in the 1960s, Gallagher Bassett specialises in claims management on behalf of insurers, brokers, government bodies and self-insurers.
Gallagher Bassett set up its Australian offices in the late 1990s, and its South Australian department is based at Grenfell Street in the city. Its core contract is with ReturnToWorkSA and as an authorised workers’ compensation agent, Gallagher Bassett helps injured workers return to work, and helps employers reduce the cost of their workers’ compensation claims and improve workplace health and safety.
Gallagher Bassett employs approximately 200 people in SA, including return to work specialists who deliver a mobile workers’ compensation claims management service. This key service provides employers and injured workers with the right information, tools and support to achieve a successful recovery to enable them to get back to their productive working life.
As a way of giving back to the community, Gallagher Bassett has created Gentle Bear. The Gentle Bear teddies are carried in emergency vehicles and handed out to young children involved in traumatic events such as serious road traffic accidents, house fires and domestic violence. A symbol of care and compassion, Gentle Bear has touched more than 10,000 lives since it came into existence in 2007.
