As more and more South Australians return to work, ensuring the safety of your staff and customers is vital.
As with all Work Health and Safety issues, the onus is on business operators to identify potential risks for infection in the workplace to establish a solid COVID-Safe Plan. Businesses that were subject to mandatory shutdowns (e.g. hotels, night clubs and beauty salons) must complete a COVID-Safe Plan before re-commencing trade from 1 June 2020. Businesses who fail to complete and display their COVID-Safe Plan could risk a fine of up to $5,000.
All COVID-Safe Plans must outline practical hygiene measures and procedures. Plans should also outline procedures for safely managing staff displaying symptoms of COVID-19. Business owners must ensure staff are aware of their obligations to protect their own health and safety and that of others. Failure to do so could result in extensive fines for business owners and staff.
