On 4 January 2021, JobKeeper 2.0 moved into its final stage, meaning businesses are again required to reassess and met the turnover test to continue to receive JobKeeper payments.
JobKeeper payment rates are reducing to $1,000 a fortnight for Tier 1 or $650 a fortnight for Tier 2, dependent on the hours worked during the reference period.
The ATO has allowed employers until 31 January 2021 to ensure that employees have been paid the correct amount and the JobKeeper wage condition has been met.
Businesses must submit to the ATO before 1 February 2021, their Decline in turnover form, this form must be completed before completing your business monthly declaration. Businesses must notify employees of their new JobKeeper payment rate within 7 days of notifying to the ATO of the applicable payment rate that applies to each employee.
Employers should also turn their mind to the JobKeeper enabling directions and consider whether any directions need to be extended. This could be from working reduced hours to working alternative duties
