Since its inception, GEM Solution has achieved remarkable success and rapid growth. One of their key achievements has been bringing South Australian wines to the Vietnamese market.
Through their experience, the company has identified three key takeaways that can help leverage commercial engagement in the wine industry, as well as improve the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam.
Take an innovative approach to exploring the new market
The first takeaway is to explore new markets innovatively with the right partners and like-minded people. GEM Solution partnered with the international team of the Department of Trade and Investment South Australia and Austrade Vietnam to host the first South Australia Wine Show in Ho Chi Minh City in June 2022. This event marked the first time ten wineries from South Australia entered the Vietnam market after the pandemic. As a result, South Australian wines have made a comeback in the local market. Five participating wineries in the delegation have found importers or partners for their wine in Vietnam.
Build brand awareness
The second takeaway is to build stronger brand awareness for South Australian wines. GEM Solution decided to increase awareness of South Australian wines by increasing the number of Vietnamese delegations to Australia, showcasing the Australian wine regions, increasing strong diplomatic ties, and leveraging higher influence for leaders in the industries.
In April 2023, GEM Solution partnered with the Australian Vietnamese Chambers of Commerce South Australia to organise the first Vietnam Inbound Wine Business Delegation. This delegation invited five representatives from Vietnam’s wine industry to visit five prominent wine regions, including eight wineries in South Australia. These efforts fostered relationships between the parties, resulting in five wineries being selected and by Vietnamese wine importers.
Share knowledge
The third takeaway is to share knowledge with greater regulatory clarity and improved supportive architecture to access the market more efficiently. With an awareness of market challenges, GEM Solution believes ongoing trade between Australia and Vietnam will remove regulatory barriers for wineries.
