Get Ready For A Construction Boom With the South Australian Business Chamber

The South Australian Business Chamber is having a mini makeover complete with hard hats and high vis.

The independent peak business body is set to deliver training programs to construction businesses for the first time, ahead of an anticipated post COVID-19 building boom.

In a new partnership, the South Australian Business Chamber has teamed up with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to become an endorsed supplier of training programs, including Health and Safety Representative training, for construction and building businesses.

The South Australian Business Chamber Executive Director, Employer Solutions and Programs, Jenny Briggs, said the new partnership made sense with the construction industry the State’s fifth largest employer responsible for 70,200 jobs.

The South Australian Business Chamber’s new partnership with CITB could not have come at a better time with the construction industry poised to play a major role in the State’s economic recovery from COVID-19,” said Mrs Briggs.

There is an air of optimism for the construction sector following the announcement of significant stimulus packages by governments, but businesses can’t be complacent.

Health and Safety training is crucial, and businesses need to do their due diligence to ensure their employees have the necessary training and skills to make the most of this opportunity.”

Mrs Briggs said the new partnership with CITB was a new era for the peak business body.

More than 4,000 South Australian businesses have chosen the South Australian Business Chamber to provide Work Health Safety training to their staff and we have trained more than 6,500 Health and Safety Representatives,” she said.

Now we look forward to welcoming construction and building businesses to experience South Australia’s number one training programs here at the South Australian Business Chamber.”

The CITB provide subsidised training and skills development to the South Australian construction industry, with up to $3,000 available per eligible persons to use on training programs such as Health and Safety Representative training.

New CITB Presiding Member, Maree Wauchope, said coming into the new financial year, CITB will invest over $4 million into subsidised training for the South Australian construction workforce to help bolster supplies of skilled labour.

We are pleased to partner with the South Australian Business Chamber as one of our endorsed training providers and look forward to their support with skills delivery to the construction workforce,” she said.

Construction and building businesses can access the South Australian Business Chamber training programs using their CITB number from 1 July. To book click here.
