Fair Work Commission Annual Wage Review Decision


The Fair Work Commission’s Minimum Wage Panel has handed down its Annual Wage Review decision on 16 June 2021. The decision applies to all private sector businesses, i.e. national system employers. The decision provides for an increase of 2.5 per cent to the National Minimum Wage to all Modern Awards. The increase will have an operative date of the first FULL pay period commencing on or after 1 July 2021 for the majority of Modern Awards. The below Modern Awards will have the following delayed operative dates: Modern Awards effective from first full pay period on or after 1 September 2021

  • General Retail Industry Award 2020


Modern Awards effective from first full pay period on or after 1 November 2021

  • Air Pilots Award 2020;
  • Aircraft Cabin Crew Award 2020;
  • Airline Operations-Ground Staff award 2020;
  • Airport Employees Award 2020;
  • Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2020;
  • Dry Cleaning and Laundry Industry Award 2020;
  • Fitness Industry Award 2020;
  • Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2010;
  • Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020;
  • Live Performance Award 2020;
  • Mannequins and Models Award 2020
  • Marine Tourism and Charter Vessels Award 2020;
  • Nursery Award 2020;
  • Racing Clubs Events Award 2020;
  • Racing Industry Ground Maintenance Award 2020;
  • Registered and Licensed Clubs Award 2020;
  • Restaurant Industry Award 2020;
  • Sporting Organisations Award 2020;
  • Travelling Shows Award 2020; 
  • Wine Industry Award 2020

That means it’s time to make sure your house is in order and you are paying your staff correctly, and complying with the Modern Awards which apply to your employees so don’t forget to register for our free webinar – Are you prepared for the Annual Wage Review on 30 June 2021 at 10:30am – you can register here As a result of awarding a percentage-based increase, the monetary increase will differ from Award to Award and classification to classification, with weekly wages being rounded to the nearest 10 cents. The increases also flow-on proportionately to junior employees, employees to whom training arrangements apply, employees with a disability and employees with piece rates of pay.
