South Australia’s export market has grown, with shipments to China soaring by 54.7% over the past year.
This growth pushed the total export value to $4.23 billion, contributing to an overall export figure of $17.56 billion, according to recently released official data.
The resurgence of South Australian wine exports played a pivotal role in this achievement, particularly after China lifted its tariffs.
Wine exports saw a 20% year-on-year increase, with the 12 months leading up to June seeing exports reach $1.56 billion.
China has solidified its position as the leading destination for South Australian wine, accounting for $343.8 million in sales. This was followed by Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, which recorded export values of $251.2 million and $230.5 million, respectively.
In just three months following the removal of tariffs, South Australian wine exports to China surged to $340 million.
Over the past year, South Australian wine represented two-thirds of the total value of Australia’s wine exports, underscoring its importance in the national market.
