The Australian Training Awards highlight outstanding individuals, businesses and registered training organisations who demonstrate best practice and innovation in the nation’s critical vocational education and training sector.

Finalists can win entry to these national awards through success in the state training awards. There are also direct entry categories that businesses can self-nominate for, including:

  • Innovation in VET Award — recognises and celebrates innovation initiatives in the vocational education and training (VET) and skills sector.
  • Australian Apprenticeships — Employer Award — recognises those employers who have made innovative improvements in training which provide beneficial outcomes for their apprentices and/or trainees in Australia and to their local community.
  • School Pathways to VET Award — recognises eligible organisations including schools, registered training organisations (RTO), group training organisations, industry bodies and employers that have collaboratively delivered one (or more) excellent vocational education and training (VET) programs to secondary school students.

The South Australian Business Chamber member TAFE SA won the Large Training Provider of the Year at the 2021 South Australian Training Awards and achieved success across other categories including, the VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award and Industry Collaboration Award.

TAFE SA Chief Executive David Coltman says he and the team found the process of applying for the awards a very valuable experience. The process enabled TAFE SA to share and celebrate the strengths of the organisation in a collaborative and engaging way.

We are proud of our achievements at the Training Awards and what this signalled to our students, staff and industry partners.

Our success at the awards provided recognition that we are providing the benchmark for quality in vocational education and training. It allowed our staff to be recognised for their amazing work in transforming TAFE SA. We also made the award application process fun. In putting our application together we got to celebrate with our staff what is being achieved by TAFE SA across the state.”

The South Australian Business Chamber corporate member SA Water were a 2021 finalist in the large employer of the year category. This category recognises large businesses and enterprises that have achieved excellence in the provision of nationally recognised training to their employees.

SA Water Chief Financial Officer Jacqueline Guerin recommends that businesses take part in these awards at the state level, to then be considered for the national awards.

We are really proud to be recognised as a leader in skills, training and workforce development, especially with the current competition for skilled workers.”

Nominations close at 11:59pm on Tuesday 31 May 2022 so start your nomination now.
