After weathering two years of a pandemic and a year of recovery under a cloud of global uncertainty, businesses need a break, if only for a night.
The latest findings from the June quarter the South Australian Business Chamber, William Buck Survey of Business Expectations underscore the challenges faced by business in this state. These are particularly pronounced for smaller businesses, grappling with rising interest rates, surging energy costs, and a reduction in consumer spending.
Recently, I was part of the judging panel for the South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards and granted the privilege of reviewing some of the 600 nominations received.
Through these nominations, businesses from across South Australia had the chance to tell their stories of success for the past twelve months. Stories underscored by qualities of innovation, determination, and resilience – achieved against a backdrop of tough economic conditions.
This vantage point provided me with a unique glimpse into a cohort that are both pioneering and high-achieving, businesses that deserve our recognition and gratitude for the role they play in driving South Australia forward.
Now we have the chance to do just that as local businesses unite in an evening of celebration.
Tables for The South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards are being snapped up with outstanding corporations like Thomas Foods and MEGT lending their support, and businesses, government and industry securing their spots at what promises to be the BIG night for SA business this year.
The awards ceremony will celebrate the contributions that local businesses have made to their community, across social, environmental, and economic dimensions.
The awards acknowledge enterprises in a diverse range of categories, from the ‘Emerging Business of the Year’ to the ‘Indigenous Business of the Year’.
This will be an uplifting gathering of business in this state on a scale not seen for many years, and the South Australian Business Chamber encourages everyone to join in the celebration.
Even during difficult of times, it’s important for us to unwind and recognise great results achieved on the back of hard work, collaboration and innovation. I can’t think of a more uniting forum than this year’s awards.
