Adelaide’s hotel sector has welcomed its newest addition as Marriott International debuts its inaugural establishment in South Australia.
Opening its doors today, the Adelaide Marriott Hotel, a luxurious 5‑star venue, signifies a significant advancement in the local hospitality landscape.
Situated in the heart of the CBD, the newly launched hotel finds its home in the historic General Post Office building, which boasts a 152-year legacy. Under the architectural stewardship of Adelaide’s esteemed firm, Baukultur, the building has undergone a transformative renovation, blending classic charm with contemporary luxury.
This $200 million development introduces 285 expansive guestrooms and suites, including an exquisite Presidential Suite, a Club Lounge, premier dining venues and bars, a swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, and versatile function and conference spaces.
Paul Gallop, General Manager, Adelaide Marriott Hotel said, “Our prime city location makes Adelaide Marriott Hotel the perfect launching pad for interstate and overseas visitors to tap into all that the destination has to offer. From premier cultural, sporting, culinary, and business events, to exploring world-renowned wine regions, Adelaide is booming. We are excited to open this milestone hotel, the first Marriott Hotel in South Australia, and look forward to welcoming our guests to experience our heartfelt service and wonderful hospitality.”
The two new dining venues were revealed as Penny Blue and Exchange Lane. Penny Blue offers a modern Australian dining experience with a seating capacity for 126 guests, while Exchange Lane provides a dynamic atmosphere shifting from a morning coffee spot to an evening bar, accommodating 88 patrons
Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison said the government’s focus on major events were helping to drive the city’s “record-breaking results”.
“The new Adelaide Marriott Hotel will be yet another reason for those considering a visit to South Australia to commit to a trip and discover why our state is a must-visit destination all year round,” she said.
