Working at Heights

Three recent falls from heights at work resulted in one fatality and two serious injuries over six weeks. Two involved a ladder and one scaffolding, and all falls were from less than two metres above ground level.

SafeWork SA has now issued a safety alert and is investigating falls in the workplace. The regulations around working at heights have changed, leading to some confusion for employers and employees regarding obligations. Apart from compliance with these regulations, employers have additional responsibilities to protect workers from injury.

If you have employees working at heights, this webinar will help you understand the following:

  • what is meant by working at heights?
  • is it OK to use ladders?
  • should I engage a contractor for work at heights, and how can I be sure they understand their obligations?
  • what are the training and licencing requirements around working at heights?
  • what lessons can we learn from recent incidents?

Deborah Hegarty, our resident WHS expert, will facilitate this session. You will get plenty of time to ask any specific questions you may have regarding working at heights.
