Following their award achievements at the South Australian Business Chamber Export Awards, two South Australian businesses were named amongst the 12 winners at the 2016 Australian Export Awards held in Brisbane last night.
Riverland-based almond processor, Almondco Australia Ltd received the national Regional Exporter Award, and Sentek Technologies was named the national winner of the Environmental Solutions Award.
Almondco is one of only four almond processors in Australia and exports half its annual throughput of 22,500 tonnes of processed almond kernels to the Middle East, South-East Asia and Western Europe from a processing and packaging plant at Renmark.
Almondco managing director, Brenton Woolston said that the award was a significant team achievement for the 72 year old co-operative.
“To be recognised as one of the best operators in the country underlines the quality of people involved throughout our value chain. It is the second time in five years we have won this award,” Mr Woolston said today.
“We have customers all around the world who prefer our premium quality products. The secret to our success is maintaining standards and committing to a philosophy of continuous improvement to retain our competitive advantage.”
Sentek Technologies is an award-winning company that has been designing, developing, manufacturing and globally distributing precision soil moisture and salinity monitoring solutions for over 25 years.
“This award confirms that Australian businesses that innovate whilst maintaining scientific integrity and a high level customer service can succeed in international markets,” Sentek co-founder, Peter Buss said today.
The South Australian Business Chamber Chief Executive, Nigel McBride, said the Australian Export Awards align with a major economic focus for South Australia and highlight the invaluable contribution the award winners are making to the State’s economy.
“The success of national award winners Almondco and Sentek validates and celebrates the achievements of these businesses not only on a national stage, but a global one as well,” Mr McBride said.
“The South Australian Business Chamber is proud to be a key driver of the Export Awards, supporting each of the nominees through the judging process.”
“These wins are a positive sign for the future of exporting for South Australia,” Mr McBride said.
