Rising Electricity Prices, Government Investment In Research And Development, And Access To Local Training Are The Issues the South Australian Business Chamber Has Found Matter The Most To Riverland Businesses.

The South Australian Business Chamber’s Regional Voice Program Will Be Visiting Loxton And Waikerie Next Tuesday And Wednesday, September 12 And 13, To Speak To Business Owners And Workers About Issues From Mental Health To Payroll Tax, Bank Levies, The Cost Of Power And Exporting To
China.

The regional visit will also include training on Free Trade Agreements and Understanding China, so that the South Australian Business Chamber can answer any questions Riverland companies have about selling their products overseas.

Consultant Robert Burns has decades of experience in China, and will facilitate training on the cultural aspects of trade, using social media and negotiations. Fellow consultant Russell Wiese will discuss understanding FTAs and how to benefit from them.

The South Australian Business Chamber Executive Director Industry & Government Engagement Anthony Penney said the Regional Voice visit to Loxton would include a two-hour workshop, Mental Health Awareness and Management at Work, presented by workplace injury specialist EML on Tuesday.

Mental health is a major concern in regional areas, including at worksites and on farms. Clinical psychologist Moira Jenkins, an expert on conflict management, behaviour and workplace bullying, will be conducting the workshop.

Dr Jenkins will discuss strategies to assist employees with mental health problems, examines business owners’ legal responsibilities, and how to ensure workplaces are supportive.

There will also be a networking event for Riverland businesses in Loxton on Tuesday evening, where the South Australian Business Chamber will be discussing local issues and asking what matters most in the region.

Riverland businesses want to be heard on issues including company and payroll tax, council rates, council amalgamations and even electricity price hikes,” Mr Penney said.

We know transport costs and heavy transport through the region are also significant issues, with business owners from blockies to river-based tourism operators face soaring fees and charges.

We want to hear your concerns and offer help on how to improve your operating conditions.”
