Historic partnership to deliver business boost in Victor Harbor

An historic tripartite partnership has been struck to save local jobs in Victor Harbor with the South Australian Business Chamber joining forces with the City of Victor Harbor Council and Business Victor Harbor on a new agreement to deliver local business support.

The partnership is the first of its kind and will provide a much-needed economic boost to the region as it seeks to recover from COVID-19.

The partnership will see the City of Victor Harbor provide $144,000 over two financial years to establish on the ground support for local businesses including a dedicated business liaison officer to ensure the needs of the local business community are heard and addressed quickly.

The partnership, part of a comprehensive business support package announced by the Council this week that also includes rate relief measures and $250,000 in business support grants.

The South Australian Business Chamber CEO, Martin Haese, commended the City of Victor Harbor for showing great leadership and support for its local businesses.

This ground-breaking agreement between the South Australian Business Chamber, South Australia’s peak independent Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Business Victor Harbor as the regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Victor Harbor Council will ensure that services are best tailored to support the local business community on the ground at Victor Harbor,” said Mr Haese.

The new normal post-COVID-19 requires greater collaboration than ever before if we are to re-boot the State’s economy and protect jobs.

Small businesses are critical to our regions, both socially and economically. The South Australian Business Chamber commends the City of Victor Harbor Council for paving the way for this historic partnership.”

City of Victor Harbor Mayor, Moira Jenkins, said the business support package was in response to feedback from local businesses under significant pressures.

The situation we are in is something we have never experienced, and the Council has thought outside the square in order to provide meaningful support for its business community,” she said.

The Council wants to support the South Australian Business Chamber and Business Victor Harbor to increase their ability to assist our local business community navigate through this challenging time and come out the other end stronger than before,” said Mayor Jenkins.

Michael Schubert, Business Victor Harbor Chairperson, thanked the Council for the funding saying it would help build up their capacity to further support local business.

We are here for small business in Victor Harbor and looking forward to the joint relationships with the City of Victor Harbor and the South Australian Business Chamber to give the much-needed economic boost post COVID-19,” Mr Schubert said.
