The South Australian Business Chamber’s Export Ready Program is South Australia’s most comprehensive export training series, and comprises six full-day workshops held over six months. An information session will be held to discuss the program tomorrow night.
The program includes mentoring from a dedicated export adviser working exclusively with participants, practical advice, key connections with international markets, business and strategic planning, and risk analysis.
The South Australian Business Chamber’s Learning Solutions manager Kerry Sutton said the South Australian Business Chamber recognises the importance of ensuring regional access to the ERP for businesses looking to export, including agricultural producers and food and beverage specialists.
As part of the regional focus, the South Australian Business Chamber is partnering with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The RFDS will be hosting ERP training sessions for regional businesses later this year at its new West Beach base, overlooking the Adelaide Airport.
Ms Sutton said the ERP gave businesses the chance to take a calculated leap into new markets.
“The ERP gives participants confidence to try overseas markets, knowing the South Australian Business Chamber has their back as they plan and prepare for expansion,” Ms Sutton said.
McLaren Vale-based Goodieson Brewery signed its first export order to send beer to Hong Kong late last year, after taking part in the 2017 ERP.
Co-owner Mary Goodieson and her husband Jeff had been brewing under their own label for seven years, and decided it was time to stop turning down export requests.
Mrs Goodieson said the program gave her confidence because it made them focus on every part of the business, from planning to production, marketing and export readiness.
“It was like a refresher to open my eyes and do things in a different way,” Mrs Goodieson said.
“I feel completely supported by both the South Australian Business Chamber and Austrade, I couldn’t believe that there was so much help out there.”
The Export Ready Program information session will be held at the South Australian Business Chamber, level 1, 136 Greenhill Road, at 5.30pm on Tuesday 6 February.
