The South Australian Business Chamber commends the State Government for re-opening South Australia’s borders to the NT, WA and Tasmania from midnight tonight.
The independent peak business body says fast tracking its call to open a Centre-West Travel Triangle, plus adding Tasmania, will save jobs and small businesses from going under.
The South Australian Business Chamber CEO, Martin Haese commended the Premier for addressing legal matters around the re-opening of South Australia’s borders so quickly.
“This is a great move by the Premier and will put South Australia ahead of the game when it comes to the economic recovery from COVID-19,” said Mr Haese.
“The South Australian Business Chamber last week joined forces the Chamber of Commerce in the NT calling on the State Government to re-open the borders between SA, the NT and WA because it will deliver the biggest return on investment for all areas of South Australia.
“The NT and WA are also COVID Safe and pose a low-level health risk to South Australians.
“We are pleased the Premier has listened to the South Australian Business Chamber’s calls and gone a step further by adding Tasmania to the Travel Triangle as well.
“Visitors from WA, NT and Tasmania contribute around $406 million a year to South Australia’s economy so this is a huge win for tourism and business.
“It’s now up to these jurisdictions whether they follow South Australia’s lead and relax quarantine measures for SA visitors. If they don’t, we will happily take their holiday makers here in South Australia.
“The South Australian Business Chamber says to residents in the NT, WA and Tasmania: our borders are open why not come here for your school holidays.”
