Although the announcement of increased restrictions in South Australia poses inconvenience, the South Australian Business Chamber welcomes the light-touch approach that will see maximum benefit for minimal impact.
The South Australian Business Chamber CEO Martin Haese Says: “Although inconvenient, the alternative of the possibility of undetected cases with very few restrictions in play, could be catastrophic for businesses in South Australia.”
“The fact that these come off the back of zero new cases and are being put in place for one week while our borders are closed to unsafe jurisdictions, provides confidence that South Australia remains at low risk.” said Mr Haese.
“Although businesses, particularly those in the events and hospitality sector, will suffer reduced attendance this week, they should be confident that these measures will see them return to normal next week.”
“The South Australian Business Chamber encourages every South Australian business owner to play their part in keeping our State safe, by reinforcing already existing measures with QR code compliance, adhering to density limits, getting tested if you are feeling unwell, and getting vaccinated as soon as you are able to do so.”
“Although light touch, we will continue to advocate that any restriction should not be in place for one day longer than it needs to be.”
Recently the South Australian Business Chamber submitted a request to Treasurer Rob Lucas prior to the hand down of the State Budget for a support mechanism to be implemented for businesses in the case of high-level restrictions or lockdowns, which was not considered in this year’s budget.
