The South Australian Business Chamber Is Calling On The South Australian Government To Prioritise Growth Through Its Export Markets, And To Implement The Recent Joyce Review Recommendations To Enhance The State’s International Trade Opportunities As A Matter Of Urgency.

Chief Executive Martin Haese Says It Is Critically Important To Act On Recommendations To Boost The State’s Growth Through Business Success, Ahead Of Tonight’s Launch Of The South Australian Business Chamber 2019 Export Awards.

Minister For Trade, Tourism And Investment, David Ridgway, Will Launch The Awards, Which Celebrate Businesses Which Go Above And Beyond When Trading Internationally. He Will Also Discuss The State Government’s Plans For Trade, Post The Joyce Review.

Increasing exports is critically important for our state’s growth, and for the health of our business community,” Mr Haese said.

Growing exports is also critical if we want to ensure we have strong agriculture, aquaculture and wine and grape industries, it’s essential for jobs growth, and it ensures our business community stays strong across the city, metropolitan and regional areas.”

In the year to March, South Australia’s exports exceeded $12 billion, growing one per cent, or $122 million, compared to the previous 12 months.

Mr Haese said during tough economic times, the state needed to back its exporters to grow their international markets, including through support initiatives such as the South Australian Business Chamber’s Export Ready Program.

He said the South Australian Business Chamber Export Awards, now in their 57th year, provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate exporting excellence by recognising the most dynamic and innovative businesses in our state and the leaps they were making into overseas markets.

Winners of the 2018 the South Australian Business Chamber Exports will join key sponsors to launch the event, including SEAPA, which went on to also win last year’s coveted National Exporter of the Year Award.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the 2019 awards and the 18 award categories on offer, along with how to boost their application for success.

Strong export markets are critical when it comes to driving the South Australian economy, and the South Australian Business Chamber plays a major role in assisting the state’s exporters,” Mr Haese said.

Applications are now open and the South Australian Business Chamber encourages all South Australian businesses which export to apply.

The media is invited to attend the launch this Thursday, 6 June, at the South Australian Business Chamber, Level 1, 136 Greenhill Road, Unley, from 6pm – 7:30pm.
