After Five Weeks, Business Gets A Break

Restrictions XL

Friday 28 January 2022

Tens of thousands of South Australian businesses are breathing a sigh of relief as the Premier lifts density restrictions.

The South Australian Business Chamber Chief Executive Martin Haese says that when the lowering of restrictions late last year turned into an increase, he never imagined it would be five long weeks that businesses would have to endure operating at 25% capacity.

This is a step in the right direction by the Premier of South Australia. Hospitality business owners can now have 50% capacity indoors from midnight tonight.

The business community, especially in the CBD, is looking forward to the next wave of public servants returning to their offices and we expect the corporates will follow suit.”

I implore all businesses in the city with staff working from home to start encouraging them back to the office too.”

Meanwhile, we await further announcements about stimulus and support packages from the State Government, as many business owners have told the South Australian Business Chamber that trading conditions over recent months have been the worst since the onset of COVID two years ago.”

The South Australian Business Chamber member and Ayers House General Manager Richard McLeod says that this is the news they have been waiting for.

We lost $90k in business in January through direct cancellations and reduction in numbers, so February is looking much better.

All of our brides next month will be much happier!”
